GCM President meets Lord Mayor candidate Sally Capp

altPresident of the Greek Community of Melbourne Bill Papastergiadis met with Lord Mayor hopeful, Sally Capp to discuss the Greek Community.

Bill Papastergiadis explained in detail the core activities of the organisation. In particular, Bill referred to the education programs and year long cultural events. Bill noted the strong ties that exist in the Greek community and in particular referred to the Community’s relationship with the Hellenic Museum.

Sally said she was excited by the prospect of working with the Greek Community of Melbourne on further strengthening the ties between the City of Melbourne and the Community. Sally said she looked forward to being at the next Lonsdale St festival as Mayor. She said that the Greek Lonsdale St Precinct had important significance not only to the Greek Community but also to this City. Sally said that we need to understand and respect the contribution that people of Greek background have made to our wonderful city.

Sally advised that the 15 Storey cultural Centre was a fantastic achievement for the Community and added significantly to the cultural fabric of our city.
