1. Ancient Greek for Beginners

A 9 week Introductory Course (Ancient Greek 1) in term 1 (January-March) followed by Ancient Greek 2 (11 week course in term 2: April-June), Ancient Greek 3 (10 week course in term 3: July-September), Ancient Greek 4 (11 week course in term 4: October-December).

This course is suitable for adults who wish to acquire the fundamentals of Classical Greek, a world heritage language spoken by the Athenians in the 5th and 4th centuries B.C. and used by the most famous ancient Greek writers, historians, philosophers and orators. Students will also be introduced to Ancient Greek culture, which formed the basis of western civilisation.

No previous knowledge of the language is required.

This basic knowledge will be the necessary threshold for those who wish to continue to the next levels where subsequent follow-up courses will be offered.

2. Intermediate Ancient Greek

A 9 week Ancient Greek 5 Course in term 1 (January-March) followed by Ancient Greek 6 (11 week course in term 2: April-June), Ancient Greek 7 (10 week course in term 3: July-September), Ancient Greek 8 (11 week course in term 4: October-December). Ancient Greek Beginner's level knowledge is required (students should have been taught Ancient Greek for at least 80 hours).

This course is suitable for adults with a basic knowledge of Ancient Greek.

When: Tuesdays 6:30-8:30 pm; Commencement date: 28/01/2019

Location: Greek Centre for Contemporary Culture, 168 Lonsdale St., Melbourne (map)

Cost: Term 1 $288 (9 sessions), Term 2 $352 (11 sessions), Term 3 $320 (10 sessions), Term 4 $352 (11 sessions). Students should purchase by themselves the books Athenaze II and Athenaze workbook II, Oxford University Press
