Awards to students who excelled in their VCE exams

altThe Greek Community of Melbourne (GCM) presented the annual VCE Awards to students who excelled in Modern and Ancient Greek.

The event was held on Thursday, 20 December 2018, and was attended by many students, parents, teachers and Community members.

The event was attended among others, by the Consul General of Greece in Melbourne Mr Dimitrios Mihalopoulos - who congratulated the students on their performance, and the GCM for its efforts and investment in education - as well as representatives of various Greek organisations, businesses and Greek media.

Vice-President and Education Convenor of the GCM, Mr. Theodoros Markos said that the main purpose of the Christmas party was "to celebrate and acknowledge the success of the students," and thanked all the teachers for their efforts during the year.

Education officer and Principal of the GCM’s Language and Culture School Mr Manos Tzimpragos congratulated the students for their success and the teachers for their dedication and hard work throughout the year.

The GCM awarded the students who studied Greek and Ancient Greek in its schools and students from other Secondary Schools.

The following students were awarded for their excellent results:

Ancient Greek: Kordas Geordie, Thomopoulos Stavroula, Faklari Anna, Kapetanea Maria Martha, Antoniadis Alexandros, Sampani Ioanna Maria, Saris Nikki, Kostogiannis Panagiotis, Makridi Natalia.

Modern Greek: Theano Christina-Salta from the South Oakleigh Secondary College, Eftyhia Thanopoulos, Georgia Palouka-Lappa, Chrysothemi Ioannou, Panagiota Pavlidou, Efthymia Delichristou, Konstantinos Koumertas, Georgia-Zeta Karava, Grigoris Karampelas, Irida Vasiliki Michaelides, Evangelos Stafylidis, Charalambos Vasilopoulos and Stella Vrahoulakis.

Alphington Grammar: Sevasti Doukas and Evangelia Arnokouros.

Finally, the student of Greek origin, Simon Seddon, who scored the highest ATAR score in Victoria, was also awarded by the GCM.
