Ελιά: The pioneer students had too much work, they made expanding, they built stone benches for speeches and departmental meetings. Soon it was impossible to be a place for everyone, so it was taken the big decision: "Immigration!" “The olive tree is an eternal symbol” she told them, “which is rooted in a lonely and disappointed tree, full of fruits. In difficult and turbulent times that humanity passes, I get its seed and multiplies it by tossing it over towns and villages, roads and rails, buildings and skyscrapers, factories and mines, over emotionless and indifferent people, over where it cannot grow, to grow!”
Stella Sorotou is a teacher and author. She was employed by the Ministry of Education, Research and Religious Affairs and she was seconded by the Greek Government at the General Consulate of Greece – Education Department in Sydney.
She created art-workshops with European Union Programs and theatrical performances with themes against war and environment’s protection written and directed by her. Her fictional stories are inspired by mythology, antiquity, nature and the problems of modern world.
She lives in Australia, teaches and writes books for students and adults, drawing “life” with words and images.
