2022 Greek Book Fair Exhibitor: Dina Gerolymou

Dina Gerolymou is a journalist and broadcaster. Her career spans over thirty years in Greece and Australia, her second home since 1992. Her academic qualifications include journalism, history, and education but her real passion is storytelling. She is fascinated by personal stories, especially those which illuminate the history of the Greek community in Australia. Her latest body of work includes the podcast series ANZAC Tales from Greece for SBS Radio where she works as a senior producer. The Battle of Crete: the untold stories stemmed from her investigation into Australia’s lack of official recognition for the Greek Campaign of 1941 when the ANZAC Corp was reformed for the second and last time after Gallipoli.

The Battle of Crete: the untold stories is an anthology of short biographies and original stories of Australian soldiers who participated in the Greek Campaign in 1941. Many of these stories were painstakingly collected over a number of years. They add to the narrative of the common history of Greece and Australia, enriching our understanding of the ties that bind the two countries. These stories also illuminate the cultural dialogue that influenced post-war migration. Every story is accompanied by authentic black-and-white photos.

Stories from World War 2 include the following:
