Join the Hoplites in a Family Friendly Fun Packed Weekend at the Melbourne Museum

In celebration of the National Archaeological Museum of Greece’s Open Horizons exhibition at Melbourne Museum the Greek Community of Melbourne (GCM) is organising a program of music, dance, food and Hoplites on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 of May,

The “Open Horizons - Ancient Greek Journeys and Connections” exhibition features 44 ancient works that date from the Early Bronze Age to the Roman period representing periods of economic and cultural trade between Greece and its neighbours. A lifetime opportunity to see some of the most extraordinary collection items from the National Archaeological Museum in Athens.

Accompanying this excellent exhibition will be a program of music and dance featuring Melbourne’s ‘Anagennisi’ and dancers from the Greek Community of Melbourne dance ensemble; food trucks in the plaza via St Gerry’s Loukoumades and Greek Gyro catering as well as the awesome site of Melbourne’s Hoplitikon featuring Hoplites in full armour on patrol throughout the Museum along with workshops and feature items from La Trobe University collection for you to see.
