Hospitality & Greek Language Programs in Greece 2026
Members of the Greek diaspora in Victoria and Tasmania have the opportunity to take part in a range of fully funded programs in Greece this year, with five hospitality and language initiatives running between June and September 2026.
Delivered through the Greek Consulate of Melbourne, these programs form part of the Strategic Plan for the Greek Diaspora 2024–2027 and are designed to strengthen cultural connection through travel, education and community engagement.
If you’re unable to attend the Greek Community of Melbourne’s Summer Camp in Thessaloniki or Youth Camp in Attiki, these programs offer another pathway to experience Greece in a structured and meaningful way.
Youth Hospitality Program (Ages 18–25)
- Locations: Thessaloniki, Kavala, Xanthi, Drama, Serres, Athens
Dates: Program A: 17–27 July 2026, Program B: 17–27 August 2026 - Participants will travel across Northern Greece and Athens, exploring major historical sites including the Acropolis, Vergina and Dion, alongside regional cities and cultural landmarks.
- The program combines guided tours, traditional dance and cultural activities, offering a structured introduction to Greece’s history and contemporary identity.
Senior Citizens Hospitality Program (Ages 65–75)
- Locations: Thessaloniki, Kavala, Xanthi, Drama, Serres, Athens
Dates: 6–16 July 2026 - Designed for older members of the diaspora, this program offers a relaxed cultural itinerary with visits to key historical sites, scenic regions and local communities.
- It includes opportunities to engage with Greek traditions through guided experiences, group activities and social connection.
Greek Language Program – University of Ioannina (Ages 18–25)
- Dates: 6–19 July 2026
- Run in partnership with the University of Ioannina, this program combines daily Greek language classes with cultural excursions across the Epirus region.
- Participants are placed by language level and take part in visits to museums, historical sites and natural landmarks, with a certificate awarded on completion.
Greek Language Program – University of Western Macedonia (Ages 18–25)
- Dates: 5–17 July 2026
- This program focuses on both language and cultural experience, combining Greek classes with workshops and regional travel.
- Participants visit locations such as Kastoria, Prespa Lakes and Vergina, while also engaging in traditional dance, local exploration and cultural exchange. A certificate of participation is provided.
Environmental Program (Ages 18–25)
- Locations: Thessaloniki, Epirus region, Athens
Dates: 1–12 September 2026 - This program explores Greece through an environmental and sustainability lens, with activities across key natural regions including Epirus.
- Participants take part in educational sessions, field visits and cultural experiences that highlight the connection between environment, heritage and community.
