A Bigger Better Greek Community Cup

The Greek Community of Melbourne (GCM) has announced the expansion of the Greek Community Cup in 2026, with the addition of Junior, Youth and Masters competitions and the staging of the Men’s and Women’s competitions in a jam packed month long celebration of Greek identity and football!

The expanded program aims to bring together Greek based clubs and players across all ages in a magical few weeks each September.

For the first time, the Greek Community Cup will introduce dedicated Junior and Youth tournaments, creating new pathways for young players to experience tournament football, represent their clubs and be part of the growing Greek Cup atmosphere.

Adding to the excitement, 2026 will also introduce a new Masters Showcase on Grand Final Day, celebrating experienced players and recognising the lifelong connection many in our community have with the game.

Returning in 2026 are the Open Men’s and Open Women’s competitions, continuing to provide opportunities for clubs and players to compete in a uniquely Greek-Australian football tournament.

GCM Sport Committee convenor Michael Karamitos was excited about the expanded cup format saying:

“The Greek Community Cup has been steadily growing and this planned expansion will deliver more opportunities for more clubs and people to get involved.

Football is as much a social opportunity for many people with shared Greek heritage to maintain a relationship with their kin.

The expanded cup only enhances this and we hope that in this new concentrated format, it will demand greater attention and provide a greater impact for all.”

The 2026 competition will be presented with the support fo the Bentliegh FC, Keon Park FC and the Northcote City FC clubs.

The Greek Community Cup is presented with professional assistance by  Australian Football Skool and support provided by Darebin City Council and Kyritsis Services Pty Ltd
